She Hired an Influencer to Catch Her Boyfriend Cheating. The Final Test Broke Him.

Sarah had been suspicious for weeks. Steve was always working late. Always on his phone. Always somewhere else when she needed him.

When she walked into the yoga studio and saw him with another woman, something inside her snapped.

“I knew it! I knew you were cheating!”

She slapped him across the face before he could explain.

“How could you do this to me?!”

Steve stepped back, genuinely stunned. “What was that for? I’m just here with my friend. We’re just doing yoga.”

Jules stood in the corner, arms crossed. She’d been Sarah’s best friend since college. She’d watched Rocky destroy her. She wasn’t about to let it happen again.

“I will never understand guys who cheat,” Jules muttered.

The other woman—the yoga instructor—spoke up. “I don’t see a ring on her finger. Is that still considered cheating?”

“Yes,” Jules said flatly.

ACT TWO — THE PATTERN

Sarah had a history of choosing the wrong men. Her ex, Rocky, had cheated on her multiple times. She’d ignored the signs until it was too late.

Now, every guy she dated was guilty until proven innocent.

“You think every single guy I date is cheating on me,” Sarah said to Jules one night.

“Because they were! Look what happened with Rocky!”

Jules sighed. “If the signs are there, don’t ignore them like you did with Rocky. Remember, where there’s smoke, there’s fire. When people show you who they really are… believe them.”

Sarah grabbed her phone. “Okay, I’ll call him.”

“No.” Jules snatched the phone away. “I have a much better idea. If you won’t say something, I will.”

ACT THREE — THE BUSINESS MEETING

Sarah showed up at Steve’s supposed “business meeting.” She found him having coffee with a stunning woman in business attire.

“You said you had a business meeting with a guy named Sam!”

Steve stood up quickly. “Sarah, this is Samantha—one of the top real estate brokers in the state. She’s looking to partner with my moving company.”

The woman stood, her expression cold. “Was looking. I’m afraid this isn’t gonna work. Good luck to you, Steven.”

She walked out.

Steve turned to Sarah, frustrated. “I am so, so sorry.”

“Look, I know you’ve been cheated on in the past, but I’m not like those other guys, okay? I care about you, Sarah. But if you keep acting like this, I don’t know if I can keep going.”

Sarah felt the guilt wash over her. “Oh, um… I forgot—I don’t have any cash. Can you spot me a twenty for the valet?”

Steve pulled out his wallet without hesitation. “Yeah, yeah. Hurry up. There.”

ACT FOUR — THE REAL ESTATE LIE

Jules wasn’t done.

“Sarah? Hey, so I did some sleuthing. And remember that woman that Steve said is a big-time real estate agent? Total lie! There’s zero information to corroborate that story. Sam isn’t on any real estate sites. Sarah, I smell smoke.”

“Can you just stop?”

“I’m sorry, but unless you have, like, actual proof that he’s cheating, I’m just gonna continue focusing on my art so I don’t spiral. Okay?”

Jules watched her friend walk away, her jaw tight. She wasn’t giving up.

ACT FIVE — THE YOGA TRAP

Jules found a yoga instructor who was willing to help. The plan was simple: she would get a little too close, see if Steve took the bait.

The instructor positioned herself behind Steve, adjusting his pose. “Breathe from your core. Shouldn’t be that difficult considering how athletic you look. You know, I could use a trainer.”

“It doesn’t look like you need one.”

She laughed, moving closer. “Muscles and a good sense of humor? You’re kinda the total package.”

“Stop!”

“Sorry, I should behave. I know you came in with your girlfriend earlier. And if I didn’t have a girlfriend… what would you say?”

Steve’s phone buzzed. He glanced at it, then stood up.

“I actually have to go. It’s kind of a work emergency.”

“Well, maybe we can grab those drinks after you’re done?”

“Sorry, no. I have a girlfriend who I love very much. And I would never cheat on her.”

Jules watched from the observation room, frustrated. “Told ya. All right. Can we drop this now?”

“No chance!” Sarah shook her head. “His demeanor changed after he saw the text. He somehow knew. We have to try again.”

“You can’t be serious.”

ACT SIX — THE DREAM CAR

Jules set up another test. A beautiful woman named Ivy approached Steve in a parking lot, admiring his car—a Porsche he’d been saving for for years.

“Nice car. Do you like it?”

“Yeah. It’s my dream car.”

“Well, what are you waiting for? Get in.”

Steve hesitated. Then he opened the car door.

Jules held her breath. “He better not get in that car.”

He got in.

Sarah’s heart sank.

But then—the passenger door opened. Steve stepped out.

“I’m sorry. I don’t really understand what’s going on here, but I have a girlfriend who I’m madly in love with. So I should get back to work.”

He walked away.

Jules exhaled. “I guess I was wrong. Maybe Steve isn’t such a bad guy after all.”

But Sarah noticed something. “He looked at his phone right before he left. Someone texted him.”

Jules’s eyes narrowed. “Okay. Activate Plan B.”

ACT SEVEN — THE PROFESSIONAL

Jules brought in someone new. An influencer who made viral “catch a cheater” videos.

“I’ve got a phone full of cast and crew contacts ready to pull this thing off. If we’re gonna do this right, we’re gonna do it my way. No questions!”

They rented a fancy mansion. Rigged it with hidden cameras and microphones. Ivy—the decoy—would call Steve’s moving company and ask for an in-person estimate.

“Before we do this, I need to know… just how far you want Ivy to push things with Steve?”

Sarah swallowed. “I need to know if there’s any fire underneath all this smoke, so… do what you gotta do.”

“Okay! I hope you two got your popcorn ready, because this is gonna be good. I’ve always wanted to say that.”

ACT EIGHT — THE MANSION

Steve arrived at the mansion. Ivy greeted him in a stunning dress.

“Wow. If I knew movers were this handsome, I’d move more often.”

She led him to her car—another Porsche. “Nice car. Do you like it?”

“Yeah. It’s my dream car.”

“Well, what are you waiting for? Get in.”

This time, Steve didn’t hesitate. He got in the passenger seat.

Sarah’s face fell. “Oh no.”

Ivy drove them around the block, then returned. She leaned in closer. “So, what do you think? Are you talking about the car or me?”

Steve’s expression shifted. “I’m sorry. I don’t really understand what’s going on here, but I have a girlfriend who I’m madly in love with. So I should get back to work.”

He got out and walked away.

Jules shook her head. “I guess I was wrong. Maybe Steve isn’t such a bad guy after all.”

The influencer smiled. “Just watch… Activate Plan B.”

ACT NINE — THE FINAL TEST

A frantic woman ran up to Steve in the parking lot. “Everything okay?”

“No, it’s my manager! I totally forgot he booked me for a shoot today. I’m super late already. Any chance you can give me a ride? Please? There’s no chance an Uber will get here on time. I can pay you!”

Steve checked his phone. Then he nodded. “Yeah, I can help.”

“I had a feeling,” the influencer said, watching the monitors. “Steve had access to your iCloud, so he figured out all your tests. So I set up Plan B. The truest test of faith.”

They rushed to the mansion, where Steve was waiting in the green room. Then—”Steve? What are you doing here?!”

A familiar voice. Jules walked in.

“Jules?! Hey, wow! Well, it’s good to see you.”

“Since you haven’t been in contact with her since she left Bullseye, Steve wouldn’t suspect Jules to be in on this.”

Jules played her part perfectly. “Looks like your modeling career is really taking off. I mean, if you have the same job as Ivy, you’re probably making bank. I was just at her house—it’s crazy. You know who else is making big moves? This guy.”

Steve laughed. “My company is kind of going crazy. You and me would actually make a pretty solid power couple.”

Jules tilted her head. “Are you and Sarah, like… not together anymore? Or…?”

Steve’s smile didn’t waver. “I mean, we’re not really that serious. Like, I got big plans, you know? And I’m not trying to get tied down to some wannabe artist. I mean, she’s too scared to submit her work. She’s never gonna make it.”

He looked Jules up and down. “Whereas you, on the other hand… are a masterpiece. A true work of art.”

Jules’s face went cold. “What is wrong with you?!”

“Whoa, whoa! What is this? What’s going on?”

Sarah stepped out from the hiding spot, tears streaming down her face. “We’re busting you, that’s what’s going on! You no good, dirty cheater! This whole thing has been a loyalty test. And, honey, you failed—and we got it all on camera.”

Steve’s face went pale. “Sarah, baby… Come on. This isn’t what it looks like. Nothing was gonna happen.”

“No, we are done! We are so done!”

Steve’s mask slipped. “Fine! Fine. It’s not like you’re some great prize anyway! I’m gonna be a CEO, and you’re just a cashier who draws pictures! Cool!”

Jules stepped forward. “Actually, as of this morning, Sarah has an agent and a six-figure publishing deal for her first graphic novel.”

Steve’s jaw dropped. “Really?”

“Sarah, baby, come on. We can work this out. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean any of that. I’m just hurt. Come on. You know how I get—”

Sarah didn’t let him finish. She turned and walked out.

ACT TEN — THE AFTERMATH

Months later, Sarah and Jules were celebrating at a high-end restaurant. Their year-long tradition.

“What a way to celebrate a year! That was hands-down the best dinner ever.”

Sarah looked up. A busboy was clearing a nearby table.

Steve.

“You work here?”

He looked miserable, humiliated. “Yeah… Kind of. It’s just temporary. So… nice.”

Sarah’s new boyfriend—successful, kind, supportive—handed Steve his car keys. “You wouldn’t mind grabbing my car and pulling around, right? It’s the brand new Porsche over there.”

Jules smiled sweetly. “Looks like those drawings really worked out for her, huh, Steve?”

Steve said nothing. He just took the keys and walked away.

WHAT WE LEARN

Sarah spent years being told she was paranoid. That her trust issues were the problem. That Steve was a good guy who just needed her to believe in him.

But Steve wasn’t a good guy. He was a good liar.

He passed every loyalty test because he knew they were coming. He had access to her iCloud. He saw every text, every plan, every trap.

And then, when he thought no one was watching—when he thought he was alone with a beautiful woman who could advance his career—he showed his true colors.

He didn’t just fail the test. He revealed exactly what he thought of Sarah. Her art. Her dreams. Her worth.

“Wannabe artist.” “Never gonna make it.” “Not trying to get tied down.”

Those weren’t the words of a man under pressure. Those were the words of a man who had been pretending to love someone he secretly despised.

And the best part? Sarah didn’t need him to become a CEO. She became a successful graphic novelist on her own. She found a partner who actually supported her. And she watched Steve go from dreaming of a Porsche to parking one for someone else.

Because here’s the truth: the person who tears you down is never going to be the person who lifts you up.

And sometimes, the best revenge isn’t a slap in the face.

It’s a six-figure publishing deal and a front-row seat to watch him park your new boyfriend’s car.
